Statement

Mosaic sculpture pursues the question of the afterlife of objects in our throwaway culture. Once dishes are broken, they are reconfigured in ways that are unexpected and frequently humorous. The artist attributes a lifelong taste for the mock heroic to being exposed in childhood to Saul Steinbergs cartoons in the New Yorker. Obsessively wrapping broken pieces around curved surfaces for the larger sculptures, or joining unrelated components as reconfigured figurines is exacting work that results in a delightful play of color and form for the eye of the viewer.
